Workforce
Our Quality Assurance starts with the recruitment of the best Care Workers possible and continues with systematic and ongoing monitoring of their performance as delivering a consistent high quality service is our priority.
This will be achieved through the implementation of a three stage action plan, which will mean obtaining care users feedback at three levels:
- Beginning with the completion of a satisfaction survey
- Telephone satisfaction survey
- Face to face interviews with clients or their representative, guaranteeing an in-depth strategy of
obtaining our care users views and opinions.
The service is audited and evaluated against the National Minimum Standards, and against our service outcome.
Eternal Care is committed to working closely with its partners in the community and places client’s
needs/satisfaction at the centre of its service provision.
About the service provider
The service provider is a registered nurse with experience in both hospital and community settings. While
in primary care setting she worked within the District nursing team and with multi-disciplinary
team members in provision of care to housebound patients in their own homes.
She then went on to become a District Nurse Team Leader, post her specialist practitioner course. As
a district nurse team leader, she led and managed a team of nurses in delivery of nursing care to
housebound patients.
Over the years, our care provider acquired experience in chronic disease management and then went
on to become a Community Matron case managing the care of patients with long-term conditions. This
entailed, coordinating patients care in partnership with patients and multi –disciplinary team members
across primary and secondary settings in prevention of unplanned hospital admissions due to
exacerbation of their conditions.
She has a wealth of experience in assessing, diagnosing and treatment of patients presenting with
various diseases i.e. wound, continence, diabetes and COPD management and is a non-medical prescriber.
Qualifications of care workers
The organization only hire the services of experienced and qualified personnel for care delivery. All
experienced care staff without NVQ level 2 (minimum) is offered training from their start date of
employment with the organization. The organization works closely with colleges to reach the goal
of having all its workforce trained to NVQ 2 and possibly NVQ3 level as the case may.
All new employees must undergo induction. Induction training incorporate completion of an induction
questionnaire and shadowing an experienced member of staff and as well as having a one to one with
the care manager or supervisor to ascertain area that would require support/further development.
As part of the organizations commitment to professional development /updating, appraisal is done with
all staff twice annually and all care staffs are entitled to one day paid study leave every three
months and staff will be encouraged to utilize the opportunity for updating in order to meet our
aim in delivery of quality care to our clients.
In summary and as part of the organizations commitment for quality assurance to delivery of high
quality care to our clients, care workers will be required to have, as a minimum, the following
qualifications in order for them to provide care services to clients in their own homes:
- Principles of care - Induction
- Service users needs - Induction
- Role of the carer - Induction
- Moving and Handling - up dated annually
- Abuse Awareness - Induction and updated every 2 years
- Basic infection control - Induction and updated every 3 years
- Administration of Medicine - Induction and updated every 3 years
- Emergency First Aid - Induction and up dated every 3 years
- Basic Food Hygiene - Induction and up dated every 3 years
- Health and Safety - Induction and up dated every 3 years
Eternal Care will ensure that all care workers are of a high standard and able to communicate
effectively in English using verbal and written skills. They should also be able to document their
tasks and prepare handover notes at the end of every shift/care provision.
